¿Por que Cydia,se llama Cydia?

Hoy en día, ¿quien no conoce Cydia? Es cierto que hay distintas opiniones sobre si instalarlo o no, pero la gran mayoría de seguidores de Apple lo conoce o al menos ha oído hablar sobre Cydia. Para el que no lo conozca, Cydia es el corazón del Jailbreak. Desde ahí se instalan, desinstalan, modifican multitud de tweaks, themes o aplicaciones no autorizadas por Apple.

El nombre es de lo más curisoso, pero ¿de dónde viene?. Al parecer, Cydia Pomonella es el nombre científico de una polilla comúnmente conocida como “gusano de manzana“. Ahora todo encaja, ¿verdad?. Con este nombre, hace referencia a que el Jailbreak es ese supuesto gusano que se adentra en nuestros dispositivos, modificándolos a nuestro antojo.

Pensemos en Cydia no solo como el icono que aparece despues del jailbreak, estamos hablando de una plataforma impresionantemente creada por Jay Freeman que en el medio se conoce como Saurik; y yo prefiero que los usuarios nuevos vean a Cydia como una biblioteca donde en lugar de libros encontramos programas. Cydia permite la instalacion de aplicaciones de terceros, es decir, no autorizadas por Apple, para modificar, personalizar, mejorar el rendimiento, conocer nuevos contenidos y claro instalar aplicaciones de AppStore completamente gratis.

Abri por primera vez Cydia, ¿Que debo hacer?

La primera vez que abrimos Cydia al realizar el jailbreak, nos aparecen algunos mensajes en donde tenemos que decidir la interfaz que vamos a usar y tambien las actualizaciones pertinentes para que Cydia funcione correctamente, aqui les presento las dos primeras imagenes al entrar a Cydia que a veces causan confusion.

 

Cuando nos salen estas imagenes, debemos primero decidir que tipo de usuario somos, User, Hacker o Developer, obviamente la mayoria de los que realizan el jailbreak son User, asi que debes elegir esta opcion, las otras dos son para usuarios mas avanzados o que utilizan Cydia con otros fines, por lo que no debes seleccionarlos.

El segundo mensaje se refiere a las actualizaciones que necesita Cydia en ese momento para ponerse al día, por eso nos pregunta si deseamos hacer Essencial Upgrade, Complete Upgrade o Ignore Temporary. En este caso debemos elegir Complete upgrade para que el programa quede completo y funcional. Despues de estos procedimientos Cydia puede reiniciarse o cerrarse, esto es necesario para que se guarden los cambios realizados.

¿Que es una source?

Como les habia comentado, Cydia es una biblioteca virtual de aplicaciones, y como en cualquier biblioteca podemos ir agregando libros o Souces que contienen mas material, aplicaciones, temas, etc. Tambien son conocidas como repositorios, o repos para abreviarlos y podemos agregar tantas Sources como queramos. Por default Cydia ya contiene Sources de páginas de internet autorizadas con Jay Freeman para subir contenidos que podemos descargar, pero tambien tiene la posibilidad de agregar más Sources para tener más contenido descargable y así enriquecer nuestra variedad de opciones cuando buscamos algo en específico.

¿Como agrego una source?

El procedimiento es muy sencillo y es practicamente lo primero que hacemos al realizar el jailbreak despues de bajar las actualizaciones. Lo unico que teines que hacer es ir al menu de Manage, luego Sources, Edit y por ultimo Add. Nos abrirá un cuadro de dialogo en el que podemos escribir la direccion o url de la source externa que deseamos agregar. Una vez escrita correctamente, podemos dar click en Add Source y se empezara a cargar todo el contenido que esa source provee. Por ultimo se nos agregara al listado de Souces de nuestro Cydia y podremos comenzar a descar lo que necesitemos.

 

Me salen errores al agregar una source ¿que hago?

Bien, los errores pueden salir por diferentes razones, las mas comunes son porque no escribimos correctamente la direcciones url o porque la direccion ya no existe, esto quiere decir que la persona que mantenia la source la ha dado de baja o simplemente el host ya no existe, tal como cuando intentamos buscar una pagina de internet que ya no esta. En estos casos los errores pueden ser: “Didnt find repository”, “Bad url”, “Failed to fetch”, “Couldn find repository”. Lo unico que podemos hacer en estos casos es encontrar la direccion correcta o investigar si la source sigue disponible.

Pero tambien podemos tener errores porque nuestra conexion a internet es intermitente o es muy baja, o Cydia se encuentra saturado, en estos casos al agregar la source nos mandara un error con un mensaje que diga “Error: POSIX”. Cuando nos salga este error lo que debemos hacer es cerrar Cydia y volver a abrir e intentar ingresar la Souce nuevamente para ver si la red se encuentra mas despejada.

¿Que es lo primero que debo descargar de Cydia despues de que hago Jailbreak?

Bien, una vez que hemos hecho el jailbreak probablemente estemos ansiosos por descargar aplicaciones gratis, pero no basta con tener Cydia en el dispositivo, hay que instalar ciertas cosas que son necesarias e importantes para que podamos seguir.

Aqui yo hago una lista de las cosas imprescindibles una vez que realizan el jailbreak y de donde lo pueden descargar de forma segura. Algunas cosas puede que nos las utilicen inmediatamente, pero lo harán sin necesitan corregir algun error o tienen problemas con alguna aplicación asi que les recomiendo que sigan mis consejos, será mas facil despues solucionar problemas:

  • AppSync: Es el parche que permite instalar aplicaciones de Appstore crackeadas, osea gratis, este parche permite que las sincronicemos con iTunes o que utilicemos installous para instalarlas. Esta disponible en la Repo de iPhoneate que es iphoneame.com/repo y debes descargar el que vaya acorde a tu version de firmware.
  • Install0us: Esta aplicaciones permite buscar y descargar aplicaciones gratis, en realidad no es imprescindible pero es muy probable que algunos usuarios prefieran descargar algunas cosas directamente en el aparato, esta aplicacion debe instalarse siempre de la misma source de donde instalaron Appsync. SIEMPREEEE!!!
  • SBSettings: Este programa permite realizar reinicios, resprings, liberar memoria, mostrar u ocultar iconos de aplicaciones, entre otras cosas, muy utiles que te seran imprescindibles a medida que vayas aprendiendo a usar tu dispositivo por lo que es necesaria siempre, no saldra un icono al instalarla, se instala directamente al sistema y para activarla solo tienes que pasar tu dedo de derecha a izquierda en el status bar de tu dispositivo (el status bar es la parte donde aparece la hora y la bateria pequeña en la parte de arriba de la pantalla). Se encuentra disponible gratuitamente en la source de BigBoss.
  • Afc2add: Esta aplicacion es un parche para poder acceder mediante algunos programas desde la computadora a los archivos internos del sistema del dispositivo, esto es muy util si despues tenemos algun problema con algun programa mal instalado o que causa problemas al comportamiento del software, asi que aunque en un principio no veas la utilidad, si en algun momento tienes un problema esto definitivamente puede ayudarte a solucionarlo. Asi que INSTALALO siempre, esta gratuitamente disponible en la source de ModMyi.
  • iFile: Esta es una aplicacion que nos permite entrar a los archivos internos del dispositivo desde el mismo iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad tambien util si luego tenemos problemas con algun programa, asi que instalalo siempre, a veces estos programas te salvan de realizar una restauracion innecesaria, ademas de que permite instalar archivos .deb.  Esta disponible en la repo de iPhoneate que es iphoneame.com/repo de manera gratuita.

¿Cuales sources debo instalar?

No se deben instalar todas las sources que encontremos en la red, eso no hace que tu Cydia sea mejor o funcione mejor, al contrario si agregas demasiadas lo unico que haces es saturarlo y luego cargar de contenido innecesario haciendo mas lenta la carga de datos de Cydia. Asi que no necesitas muchas sources para poder tener todo lo necesario o interesante.

¿Que es reloading data y porque tarda tanto?

Como mencionaba, si tu agregas demasiadas sources, cada vez que abras Cydia esta demorara mucho mas en realizar la carga total de datos, eso es el reloading data, un escaneo rapido de lo que todas las sources que tienes instaladas han agregado, contenidos nuevos, etc. Por lo que el reloading data tarda tanto como las sources que tengas hayan actualizados sus contenidos.

¿Hay forma de evitar el reloading data de Cydia?

Si, el reloading data se puede evitar utilizando una aplicacion de Cydia que se llama NoCyFresh, que funciona con SBSettings, por lo que hay que activarlo desde ahi despues de instalarlo para que funcione. Es gratuita en Cydia, aunque toma en cuenta que si la instalas, Cydia no te enviara actualizaciones de las aplicaciones, ni contenidos nuevos puesto que no se actualizará cuando entras, de cualquier forma puedes realizar la actualizacion manualmente cuando lo desees, solo ve a Changes y da click en refresh para que Cydia se actualize y haga el reloading data cuando tu gustes.

Tengo errores al descargar algo de Cydia ¿Que hago?

Es comun que tengamos algunos errores al descargar programas o aplicaciones de Cydia en determinadas sources, aqui pongo los mas comunes y como se resuelven:

  • Dependency problem: Esto quiere decir que el paquete que estamos instalando depende de otras cosas que probablemente tengamos instaladas de otra source, o depende de algun programa que no es compatible con nuestro dispositivo, para solucionarlo es necesario saber que programa o que aplicacion es la que esta generando el conflicto y desinstalarla.
  • Error POSIX: Este error durante la instalacion de algun programa ocurre por la intermitencia de la red wi-fi a la que estamos conectados o por saturacion en Cydia, por lo que debemos salir de la aplicacion y volver a entrara para intentar la instalacion.
  • Los siguientes errores son por errores en la source en si y no por errores en nuestro disopositivo: Hasum missmatch, size missmatch, dpkg returned error -1; estos errores no los podemos solucionar nosotros, y la mejor opcion es elegir otra source de donde bajar ese programa.

Baje un aplicacion de Cydia y ahora mi iPhone, iPod Touch entra en Safe Mode constantemente ¿Que hago?

Por lo regular cuando una aplicacion nos envia a Safe Mode, o a Sad iPhone como algunos han visto, es porque no tenemos suficiente memoria ram para soportarlo, por lo que lo mejor que podemos hacer es desinstalarla, pero ya que nuestro dispositivo se encuentra en Safe Mode debemos entrar a Cydia desde ahi, es decir no dar click en Restart para salir de Safe Mode, sino en OK. Despues solo entramos a Cydia normalmente y buscamos el paquete que acabamos de instalar que nos causo el problema y desinstalarlo.

Abro Cydia y se cierra solo ¿Que hago?

Recuerdan que he mencionado ciertos programas que tenemos que instalar siempre en caso de que suceda algo malo, bien algunas cosas que podemos hacer cuando Cydia se inutiliza, pero necesitamos haber tenido instalados los programas de emergencia que explique en el listado anteriormente.

La primera opción seria entrar por ssh con algun programa con Winscp o usar iFunbox, iPhoneFolders, Diskaid e ir a la ruta:

private/var/lib/apt/lists/ y borrar todo lo que haya ahi menos la carpeta Partial, luego intentar abrir Cydia de Nuevo y ver si funciona.

Al abrir Cydia siempre me manda errores de Sources ¿Como quitarlos?

Bueno algunos errores son causados por las sources mal escritas que hemos intentado meter, pero algunos errores se deben a que las personas que mantienen esas sources las estan actualizando o cargando nuevo contenido, por lo que esos errores nos e podran quitar, ya que quien mantiene la source necesita actualizarla y nosotros solo debemos ser pacientes, tal es el caso de cuando leemos un error que dice algo referente a Packagez.gz y el nombre de la source. Bien solo debemos ser pacientes y esperar a que terminen su mantenimiento.

Diferencias entre Jailbreak tethered, semitethered y untethered

  • Jailbreak untethered: Es el Jailbreak más recomendado y el ganador por excelencia. Una vez realicemos el Jailbreak a nuestro dispositivo no tendremos que preocuparnos de volver a realizar el Jailbreak. Podremos trabajar con él de forma normal, teniendo acceso a Cydia y demás programas asociados.
  • Jailbreak tethered: Es un Jailbreak alternativo no muy cómodo, ya que tenemos que mantener nuestro dispositivo siempre encendido una vez realizado el Jailbreak. Una vez apagado o reiniciado el iPhone o iPad nos encontraremos al encenderlo con que no podemos pasar de la pantalla de la manzana a no ser que lo conectemos al ordenador y realicemos de nuevo el Jailbreak.
  • Jailbreak semitethered: Es una solución a medio camino entre las dos anteriores. Al arrancarlo de nuevo tras hacer realizado ya el Jailbreak nos encontraremos con que al menos podemos usarlo para realizar funciones básicas. Habremos perdido otras opciones, como el correo electrónico, hasta que lo conectemos de nuevo al ordenador para arrancarlo con alguna herramienta para Jailbreak.
